Warranty/Guarantee

Fairfax Pines English Labradors Warranty/Guarantee

If you make a deposit on a Fairfax Pines puppy, you acknowledge that you have read and understand the terms and conditions of our Guarantee & Purchase Contract (below).

Health Guarantee and the Journey of Our Puppies

Our health guarantee applies not only to any puppies sold as pets but also to those considered for potential show homes and therapy dog programs under "AKC Full Registration". It is important to recognize that while we strive for excellence, there is no way to guarantee perfection in either the show or therapy arenas. The journey to reach the age of performance in these specialized fields requires significant development, training, and nurturing, and many factors remain uncertain until the puppies mature.

Often, we hope to look into a crystal ball, hoping to foresee the future roles their puppies might play. However, the reality is that the temperament and growth of each puppy cannot be 100% predictable - so many external factors play a major impact. I have had the privilege of breeding the best show prospect we had ever produced, only to discover that her bite changed at seven months old. Does this shift render her useless? Absolutely not! Many of the factors that might seem detrimental are often cosmetic or minor imperfections that do not hinder a puppy or dog from becoming a wonderful family companion. The essence of our commitment is ensuring that each puppy can offer love and companionship, which is the most important consideration in their development.

Typically, we seldom sell full registration puppies, and when we do, it is priced at a mere $500 more. This is a reasonable investment, considering that the purchaser is acquiring one of the very best, if not the best, prospects from that litter. However, it is crucial to understand that we cannot guarantee the specific roles that the purchaser may wish to fill with the puppy. This understanding is precisely why the pricing remains so accessible—because in the event that the puppy does not fulfill those intended roles, they are still destined to be a wonderful and beautiful companion.

As a breeder, I empathize with the disappointment that can stem from not having a puppy excel in the show ring or not meeting the ideal specifications for breeding. However, it is vital to recognize that such outcomes do not diminish the immense joy and love these dogs can provide as cherished pets throughout their lives. They have the potential to become the shining stars of their families, offering companionship that transcends any show title or breeding accolade. In the end, the true value of a dog lies in the unconditional love and companionship they bring into our lives, enriching our experiences and creating bonds that last a lifetime.

NOTE *** At ANY TIME Fairfax Pines HAS THE RIGHT TO REFUSE TO SELL A PUPPY TO ANY FAMILY THAT WE DON’T FEEL WILL MAKE A GOOD MATCH. EVEN IF YOU HAVE A DEPOSIT DOWN WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO RETURN THAT DEPOSIT TO YOU.

*Should you have any questions about these terms & conditions, please contact Fairfax Pines English Labradors prior to making a deposit.

The Terms of our Hip and Eye Guarantee are as follows:

For a Hip claim, the dog must have had their hips X-rayed by the age of 26 months to be covered by this Guarantee. All X-rays must be submitted to the OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) for evaluation by Veterinary Radiologists.   Proof of severe genetic dysplasia from the OFA must be presented to Fairfax Pines English Labradors. THIS HIP GUARANTEE IS FOR SEVERE HIP DYSPLASIA ONLY WHERE IT AFFECTS THE DOG FROM NORMAL ACTIVITIES.   Buyer accepts responsibility for not overfeeding the dog (which can also bring about hip dysplasia).

When the following requirements are met, this GUARANTEE will be in effect and honored by Fairfax Pines English Labradors.

1.
A copy of the findings from OFA MUST be sent to us for our records. The OFA shall be the sole judge regarding hip dysplasia (may do Penn Hip for second opinion) and the OFA shall be the sole judge regarding eye defects, subject to the findings of OptiGen regarding RD/OSD, and/or prcdPRA findings.

2.THE DOG MUST NOT HAVE BEEN BRED OR SOLD. (Breeding or selling of dog before CERF & OFA certification makes this guarantee NULL and VOID)

Buyer accepts responsibility to not jog with puppy on hard surfaces or allow puppy to jump from heights (i.e. from car or pickup) before 18 months of age. As DJD Grade 1 type elbow dysplasia  or unilateral elbow dysplasia can be the result of poor nutrition, improper exercise, injury from jumping or rough playing, no warrantee shall apply for this condition.

SPECIAL PROVISION ON EARLY SPAY/NEUTER: You will likely be encouraged by your veterinarian to spay or neuter your puppy at an early age - some as early as four months. You have been provided with articles and information which describe the negative impact of early spay/neuter on the long term health of your puppy. While we fully support spay/neuter as a means of preventing pet over-population, we strongly discourage the practice of EARLY spay/neuter. Ultimately, the decision is yours. However, as a means of discouraging this practice.

ALL GUARANTEES EXPRESSED ELSEWHERE IN THIS DOCUMENT ARE NULL AND VOID IF:
Males are neutered before 18 months of age
Females are spayed before 18 months of age

This Guarantee is not transferable.   To make a claim against this Guarantee, the original owner who bought this dog must still own the dog.

To make a claim against this Guarantee, the dog must not have sired or whelped a litter.

In the event of a legitimate claim against this Guarantee, the puppy will be replaced, or the full purchase price of the dog will be fully refunded.

Our financial responsibility will be limited to this original purchase price of the puppy or a replacement puppy.   All veterinary bills accumulated by owners are the financial responsibility of the owner.

*Buyer agrees to enroll their puppy in a basic obedience class as soon as possible.

Registration:    AKC Limited registration*

Other conditions:  *Buyer agrees that this dog is not being sold for the purposes of breeding.   Buyer agrees to not breed this dog. This guarantee does not include cancer, as this is not congenital or genetic. Buyer understands that Fairfax Pines is not liable for entropion, ectropion, inverted vulvas, undescended testicles, hernias, abnormal dentation. These are not life-altering conditions and generally resolve with age and/or with minor corrective surgery.
In the interests of protecting the Labrador breed and not contributing unnecessarily to the problem of pet overpopulation, the breeder is selling this puppy on AKC Limited Registration. AKC Limited Registration means that the dog is registered but no litters produced by the dog are eligible for AKC Registration. Dogs with Limited Registration may not be entered in breed competition at Dog Shows but may compete in all other AKC events. The breeder may later apply to change this designation and have the dog given Full Registration privileges, but a fee and special application are required by the AKC for this change.

AKC Full Registration is offered for Service Dog Schools, breeders (on a case by case basis), and is considered for those active in the conformation show ring (a different contract applies and an additional cost will also apply)

Buyer also agrees, that if for any reason in the lifetime of the said puppy\adult Labrador, if they can no longer keep in their possession the Labrador, that they will relinquish ownership back to Seller, Tammy Boudreau (Fairfax Pines English Labradors). Under no Circumstances is Buyer to release puppy\Adult Lab to any Rescue Group, Shelter, or any other type of facility for re-homing. Buyer is to Contact Tammy Boudreau immediately and arrange for puppy\Adult Lab to be released back to Seller, where it will always have a home, where the Labrador came from.

Please realize that as responsible breeders we do not want a puppy we produce to ever become a detriment to the community or itself. It is my genuine concern that this dog have a suitable environment and if for any reason a problem occurs, WE WANT TO KNOW. Our sincere belief is that a Labrador becomes a part of the family it joins and we want both the family and the dog to be happy. We will assist in any way we can to make the necessary adjustment with this new member of your family. Your puppy is from a carefully planned breeding and represents a responsibility on our part that will never end. We have been diligent in raising this puppy for the first weeks of its life to equip it to socialize readily into your environment. The rest is up to you, but we stand ready to help at any time. Please keep in touch with us.

WE CARE VERY MUCH ABOUT THE FUTURE OF THIS PUPPY!
As is the usual practice with conscientious breeders, should “things not work out” and you feel that your lifestyle and the puppy are not compatible, please contact us immediately so that we can either help resolve the problem or arrange for the return of the puppy to us so that we may find a suitable home. We have found that this works best, since we normally have a waiting list for our puppies.
