2026-2027 Breeding Outlook

Our Breeding Philosophy At Fairfax Pines, we breed first and foremost for the betterment of our program and the Labrador Retriever breed. Every pairing is thoughtfully planned with long-term purpose in mind. We prioritize:
Breeding is never “simple.” Behind every litter is a great deal of work—veterinary visits, progesterone testing, semen evaluations, AI or surgical inseminations when needed, ultrasounds, puppy counts, and countless hours of hands-on care. It truly takes blood, sweat, tears, and a whole lot of love. We’re deeply grateful for families who understand and respect the integrity behind these decisions.
A Special HonorWe’re proud to share that our dogs were selected to help produce future service dogs for the West Virginia University Service Dog Program—a meaningful recognition of our commitment to health, temperament, and purposeful breeding.

Our Nursery & Puppy Preschool
In our cozy home, the gentle pitter-patter of tiny paws signals the arrival of precious new lives. Our puppies begin their learning journey at 3-4 weeks from our home to our climate-controlled nursery, where comfort, safety, and cleanliness are always the priority. This marks the start of their Puppy Preschool experience.
Here, puppies are introduced to:
Our Daily Commitment
Being retired allows us the privilege of dedicating our full time, energy, and love to our dogs. Our days are filled with structured care, play, bonding, and observation.
We are also incredibly fortunate to have a Kennel Assistant who is a former Veterinary Technician, whose knowledge, skill, and compassion further enhance the care and wellbeing of our dogs and puppies.
This is not a business to us — it is a lifestyle built around devotion, responsibility, and love for the Labrador Retriever.
Our Commitment to Thoughtful Breeding
Every breeding decision we make is rooted in:
We do not guarantee the use of any particular stud. Breeding involves countless variables — timing, fertility, health, veterinary guidance, and nature itself. This process requires patience, experience, and trust. Much of what goes into breeding is unseen by puppy families, and we believe that is as it should be. What matters most is the result: healthy, confident, loving companions.
Respect for Breeding Decisions
We deeply value the passion of our puppy families. However, we also ask for trust in our experience.
For example, when asked about breeding closely related dogs, we gently remind families that ethical breeding requires restraint, not convenience. Our goal is not only beautiful puppies — it is sound structure, stable minds, and long-term genetic responsibility. Color is never more important than character.
Our Promise
The essence of a good dog is not found in their coat — it lives in their spirit, their joy, and the love they bring into a home. As stewards of this wonderful breed, we are not simply producing puppies. We are creating companions who will walk beside their families through life’s chapters with loyalty, affection, and integrity. Each litter represents hope, responsibility, and the promise of countless moments of joy.
We are honored to be part of that journey with you. 💛

** Note we breed for our own purposes first, always trying to improve our lines and betterment of the breed through health testing and adding lines for the preservation of the Labrador standard. We may choose to keep multiple puppies from litters at our discretion, and we may use an alternate stud dog than the one listed on our breeding plan. Many factors and vet visits are just a small part of breeding, multiple progesterone tests, semen evaluations, artificial insemination, surgical insemination's, ultrasounds to confirm pregnancy, as well as puppy counts and a multitude of other factors and situations - blood, sweat and tears!!! ... <3

We reserve the right to refuse the placement of our puppies and dogs if we feel a family may not be a good fit.
This decision is made with careful consideration for the well-being of both the animals and families involved.
Certainly, we understand that life happens. If you pass on getting a puppy you lose your spot and are moved to the bottom of the list - if you pass on a puppy more than twice you are removed, and your information is placed into my home office file and you will have to contact me when you feel your family is ready for a future puppy.
