Our “Meet & Greet Match” Approach (Breeder-Guided Matching)One thing we’re proud of at Fairfax Pines is that we don’t rush the process—and we don’t treat puppies like “first come, first served.” Instead of using a rigid pick order, we use what we call our Meet & Greet Match process.

Here’s why: choosing a puppy isn’t just about color or “who you fall in love with first.” It’s about the right fit—temperament, energy level, confidence, sensitivity, drive, and the kind of home a puppy will thrive in. We live with these puppies day in and day out. We see their little patterns, their personalities developing, their “micro-moments” that tell us who they are becoming.
How it worksMeet & Greet: Families visit the farm, play with the puppies, meet our adult dogs, and talk with us. It’s relaxed, hands-on, and one of the most joyful weekends of the entire process. We learn about your lifestyle, your experience, your goals, and what you’re hoping for in your next best friend.

Our homework (Weeks 6–8): As the puppies grow, we complete temperament and structure evaluations and track each pup’s strengths and natural tendencies. Then we put all of that together—your family, your needs, and each puppy’s personality—to make the best match.

Gotcha Weekend: Puppies go home at 8 weeks, during the Gotcha weekend listed above.

Why we do it this wayBecause fit comes first. Our goal is to set every puppy and every family up for success from day one—not just for the cute puppy stage, but for the next 10–15 years. This process helps ensure that the confident, busy pup doesn’t end up in a quiet home that wanted a cuddlebug… and the softer, more thoughtful pup doesn’t end up overwhelmed in a household that needs high drive and constant activity.

What Happens NextOnce puppies arrive, we will reach out directly to families on the waiting list. When your family is confirmed for a litter, we’ll add your name to our balloon graphic—because every single family is worth celebrating. 🎈
We’ll continue to share updates as we go, including growth milestones, Meet & Greet details, and final pickup logistics.

FAQDo we still get to interact with the puppies?
Absolutely. Meet & Greet is hands-on and fun. We love watching which puppies you naturally connect with, and we factor that into our final decisions.

Is there still a pick order?
No traditional pick numbers. Our matches are breeder-guided, based on temperament, lifestyle, and long-term fit.

We can’t wait to walk this journey with you—and we’re so grateful you’re here.

Gotcha Day Instructions

We are so excited to welcome you to the Fairfax Pines Family and help you bring home your new puppy! Below are important reminders to ensure a smooth, safe transition for everyone — especially your little one. 💛

📍 Arrival Instructions
• Please arrive only at the designated time we assign to you. This ensures each family receives personal time and helps keep puppy transitions calm and organized.
• When you arrive, please text us and remain in your vehicle. We will guide you when it’s your turn — Gotcha Day is a busy day here!

💳 Final Payment
• If paying electronically (Venmo or Zelle), please send payment 48 hours in advance to avoid delays due to bank holds, limits, or fraud flags.
• Other accepted payment methods:
– Cash
– Cashier’s Check (payable as instructed prior to pick-up)
• Full payment must be received before the puppy leaves our care.

🎒 What to Bring
• A crate or secure travel carrier or buddy lap :)
• A blanket or towel
• Water and a small bowl for the ride home
• Paper towels & potty bags
Optional but helpful:
• A travel buddy for comfort and supervision
• A small chew toy for distraction

🍽️ Feeding + Routine
• Please keep your puppy on the same food and same feeding schedule we provide do not switch foods or formulas.
• Your puppy may have a smaller appetite the first 24 hours due to excitement and stress — this is normal.
• Keep transitions calm with lots of naps and quiet bonding time.

🐶 First 48 Hours at Home — What to Expect
Your puppy has just left everything familiar — Mom, siblings, sounds, routines — so extra care goes a long way:
• Expect whining, clinginess, or extra naps
• Introduce new areas of the home slowly
• Keep visitors limited — focus on family bonding first
• Support potty training immediately (outside after waking, playing, and eating)
Crate Training Tip:
Out of crate → potty → brief play → potty again → back to crate for rest
This sets up great habits right away!

🩺 Veterinary Care & Safety
• Schedule your puppy’s first vet exam within 3 days of coming home.
• Bring the provided vaccination & health record "Folder" to your vet visit.
• Avoid high-risk environments (dog parks, pet stores, unknown dogs) until your puppy is fully vaccinated.

💚 We’re Here for You — Always If you have questions, concerns, or even if you just want to share updates and photos — please reach out anytime.
There are no silly questions. We love supporting our families and seeing our puppies thrive!

🌲 Welcome to the Family!Thank you for trusting Fairfax Pines Labradors — we are honored to be part of your puppy’s story.
