WHEN DO MALES START BREEDING?
Males may start breeding anywhere from 12-18 months+. We will access each male individually with our vet. This usually consists of us taking them in for a semen collection.
HOW OFTEN ARE MALES BRED?
Males may be used once or twice a year or maybe more… depending on our breeding plans.
HOW LONG WILL HE STAY WITH YOU?
Males will usually stay with us a week when naturally breeding.
If at some point semen needs to be shipped to another breeder, Parent Partner can opt for taking him in a vet for shipping and collection rather than bringing him to us and having to pick him up after.
HOW LONG DO MALES STAY IN THE GUARDIAN PROGRAM?
Males stay in our program up until 6 or 7 years after they go to their Parent Partner home. However, we may retire some males early based on our discretion or our vet.
MY FRIEND HAS A LABRADOR, WHAT IF WE LET THEM HAVE PUPPIES?
We retain all breeding rights. This means that he may not be mated with any unapproved females even if it is an “accident”. Males should never be allowed around any unapproved females in heat.
MONETARY COMPENSATION:
Yes! We give males $100 for each successful breeding/litter.
