Mothers Pudding

🌿 Fairfax Pines Mothers Pudding Recipe - A Warm, Gentle, High-Calorie Food for Lactating Dams

Goat’s milk and yogurt are gentle, nourishing additions to the diet of nursing dogs, offering both comfort and critical nutrition during a demanding time. Naturally rich in calcium, protein, and essential fatty acids, goat’s milk is easier to digest than cow’s milk, making it an excellent choice for replenishing strength and supporting healthy milk production. Yogurt adds probiotics that balance the gut, enhance nutrient absorption, and strengthen the immune system—helping mothers stay resilient while nourishing their litters. Together, they provide a soothing, wholesome foundation that supports recovery, lactation, and overall vitality for both dam and puppies. 🐾🥛✨

💛 After giving birth (natural or C-section), dams often need a recovery boost. This pudding is warm, custard-like, and easy to digest, providing protein, calcium, healthy fats, and gentle energy to support recovery, hormone balance, and milk production.

🥛 Ingredients
  • 2 cups goat’s milk (or low-lactose milk alternative)
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch or tapioca starch
  • 1–2 tbsp oat flour
  • 1 tbsp raw honey or clear Karo syrup (optional, for energy)
  • 1–2 tbsp plain full-fat yogurt (add after cooking)
  • 1 packet (2½ tsp) unflavored gelatin (optional, for protein/setting)
Optional Boosters
  • ¼ tsp fenugreek powder (milk support)
  • 1 tsp brewer’s yeast (B vitamins, lactation support)
  • ¼ tsp goat colostrum powder (immune & lactation)
  • ½ tsp coconut oil (energy, hormone balance)

🍯 Instructions
  1. Gelatin (if using): Sprinkle gelatin over ¼ cup cold goat’s milk. Let sit 5 min.
  2. Whisk Base: In saucepan, whisk milk, egg yolks, starch, and oat flour until smooth.
  3. Cook Gently: Heat on medium-low, stirring until thickened into soft custard (5–7 min). Do not boil.
  4. Add Boosters: Remove from heat. Stir in gelatin, honey, fenugreek, yeast, or colostrum if using.
  5. Cool & Enrich: Let cool to lukewarm, then stir in yogurt and coconut oil.
  6. Serve or Set: Serve slightly warm or refrigerate until softly set.

🐾 Feeding & Storage
  • Serve ¼–½ cup, 1–3x daily during the first 7–10 days postpartum.
  • Store in fridge up to 3 days. Reheat gently in warm water bath or room temp.
  • Monitor for digestive upset or early milk fever.
