Labrador Retriever Club

A Platform for Action, Transparency & Progress

I am running because I believe meaningful Board service requires more than holding a title. It requires communication, accountability, thoughtful decision-making and a willingness to do the work that keeps our club moving forward.

I believe our members deserve clear communication, reliable access to information, responsible stewardship of club resources and a leadership culture that welcomes participation, values differing perspectives and follows through.

Transparency Clear and timely communication with members
Accountability Defined responsibilities and meaningful follow-through
Communication Information that members can easily find and access
Responsible Spending Regular review of services, systems and expenses
Membership Growth, participation and pathways for involvement
Recognition Celebrating Labrador achievement across disciplines
Communication & Accountability

Transparency Should Be the Standard

Members should not have to search for information about the club they support.

I support timely, straightforward communication between the Board and membership and believe members should have reliable ways to understand the issues being discussed, the decisions being made and the direction of the club.

More Member Communication

I support opportunities for membership meetings throughout the year, including the thoughtful use of Zoom and other technology when appropriate.

Information Without Gatekeeping

Official information should be readily available through established club channels rather than depending upon rumor, side conversations or personal websites and social media.

Breed Stewardship

My Position on AKC Silver Registration

I am firmly opposed to AKC registration of silver as a Labrador Retriever color.

I believe members deserve to know where candidates stand on issues that affect the breed. My position is clear: I support preservation of the Labrador Retriever breed standard and the recognized colors of black, yellow and chocolate.

Responsible Stewardship

Taking a Thoughtful Look at How Club Resources Are Used

Responsible stewardship means periodically evaluating the services and systems the club pays for and asking whether they continue to meet the needs of the organization and its members.

I believe our website, information technology services and communication platforms deserve that kind of review. The goal should not simply be change for the sake of change, but systems that are dependable, cost-conscious, easy to manage and responsive to the practical needs of a national breed club.

Good stewardship means asking not only what we are spending, but whether what we are paying for is working well for our members.
A Better Information Hub

The Website Should Work for Our Members

Our website should be the dependable home for official club information.

Minutes, newsletters, event information, announcements and other important club materials should be organized logically and published in a timely manner so members know where to look.

I would like to see clear protocols establishing:

  • Where official information is posted
  • When information should be published
  • Who is responsible for publishing and maintaining it
  • How members can reliably locate archived and current information
  • How updates are communicated when information changes
The Future of the Club

Growing Membership & Encouraging Participation

The future of any national breed club depends upon people who want to belong, participate, learn and contribute.

I believe we should continually examine whether our membership process is welcoming, understandable and accessible to responsible Labrador owners and fanciers who want to become more involved.

I would also like to explore meaningful ways to bring Labrador owners and newer fanciers into the club community through education, access to information and opportunities to participate. Developing the next generation of involved Labrador people is essential to the long-term health of the club.

Celebrating the Labrador

A Broader View of Achievement

The Labrador Retriever is remarkably versatile, and our national club has the opportunity to celebrate that versatility.

I would like us to continue looking at successful ideas from other National Specialties and organizations — particularly approaches that encourage participation, strengthen events and create greater visibility for the many ways Labradors excel.

I also support meaningful recognition of accomplishments across disciplines. Conformation, field, obedience, rally, agility, scent work, dock diving, therapy work and the many other activities in which Labradors participate all contribute to the story of our breed.

Service

Ready to Do the Work

Board service is not ceremonial. It requires time, responsiveness, problem-solving and consistent follow-through.

During my time volunteering for the club, I have seen firsthand how much work happens behind the scenes — emails, phone calls, event preparation, troubleshooting, communication and the countless small tasks necessary to keep an organization moving.

I understand that responsibility, and I am prepared to contribute that level of effort.

My Commitment

What I Will Continue to Advocate For

Timely, easy-to-understand information
Greater transparency between the Board and membership
Less information gatekeeping
Stronger member communication
Preservation of the Labrador Retriever breed standard
A thoughtful review of website and communication systems
Responsible and efficient use of club resources
Membership growth and meaningful participation
Recognition of achievement across disciplines
Practical protocols and consistent follow-through

Respect for the Past. Work for the Future.

I have tremendous respect for those who have volunteered their time and talents to the Labrador Retriever Club and for everyone who has chosen to step forward and serve.

At the same time, Board positions carry meaningful responsibility. They require people willing to communicate, listen, solve problems and follow through.

That is the kind of service I am prepared to give.
