Labrador love never fades or falls for gimmicks..

Labrador lovers…

We all love our Labradors. They’ve been America’s dog for so long that seeing them bumped from the top spot after 30+ years by the Frenchie still makes my heart sink a little. They say it’s partly because of “specialty” coats and designer colors...fluffies, dilutes, all the buzzwords—whipping up a frenzy of irrational demand.

If you’re starting the search for a Labrador puppy, I hope you’ll tuck this next part gently into your heart:

You’re going to see ads for “AKC registered Silver Labradors.”
These dogs trace back to an “oops” 40+ years ago, and much like the Frenchie craze—they were quickly packaged as rare, unique, and special. But here’s the hard truth from someone who loves this breed to her core:
A carefully, thoughtfully bred Labrador, one bred with the breed standard in mind will not have dilution in the pedigree. “Registered” is a label, not a guarantee of quality or purity of type. Are there silver dogs who are loved pets, soaking up couches and kisses? Of course there are. This isn’t about whether they are “good dogs.” All dogs deserve love. It’s about what we are calling a Labrador… and what we’re quietly losing every time we chase a fad instead of the foundation.

My heart belongs to the Labrador Retriever as it was meant to be:
* solid, sound, and balanced in body and mind
* deeply biddable, eager to work, eager to please
* a dog with history and purpose, not just a trendy color.

We don’t breed for fads. We don’t breed for hashtags.
We breed for the Labrador whose pawprints run through time,
the “Gentleman’s Retriever” in Black, Yellow, and Chocolate.

The dog who:
• can sit quietly at a blind with a leisurely hunter,
• can steady a trembling hand as a therapy or assistance dog,
• can curl up at the end of a long day and be the very best friend your children will ever remember.

That is the Labrador I see when I look at our dogs.

That is the Labrador I want to still exist long after I am gone.

So when you’re searching for your puppy, please look beyond “rare” and “special” and “unique.” Look for health, temperament, structure, and a breeder whose eyes light up when they talk about preservation, not trends.

Because at the end of the day, colors fade, fads pass…

but a true Labrador ... heart, soul, and purpose ...

that’s forever.
