How We Do Things & News

Those Who Teach Us Most About Humanity, Aren't Always Humans ~ D. Hicks
We do things a bit different around our place, we welcome visitors and those who want to know more about us and our dogs! A puppy/dog is a huge commitment, and we certainly want families to feel confident that they are getting a puppy that is well balanced and well, we want you to see the digs!!! Of course we care about the well being of our dogs and puppies, and of course do not want them to have exposure to various diseases out in the world... but my philosophy is... if our dogs and mothers are vaccinated and healthy then our puppies although fragile bundles also carry that immunity.  Grant and I travel daily... various vet appointments, to feed stores and grocery shopping and, well... I mean we are your average people living average lives (aside that we have a gaggle of Labradors!).  If you want to visit, of course refer to our meet and greet page and call or text for questions and to schedule a time to visit.  Again, we invest lots of time and care into our group of dogs and realize that not only are families making a monetary commitment, they are signing up for many years of joy and lovable antics these Labradors will provide for years to come!

Each breeding is carefully planned to produce puppies that meet the Breed standard. We use health clearances, and evaluate the structure, type, pedigree and temperament prior to breeding. The health and care of our dogs is top priority, often our vet check ups and results are posted on our facebook page.. as we want families to follow along our journey!

We typically do not sell full registration, we have on occasion to fellow colleagues, however those colleagues arent just breeders, they show, do performance rallies, and get CGC - Canine Good Citizen titles.  Our lifestyle is not easy, although we find it very enjoyable producing a litter of puppies can be a lot of hard work and emotionally draining. There are many sleepless days and nights and there are many tears and worry that come along with this journey that goes beyond all the puppy snuggles and puppy breath.

If you have any questions whatsoever with our philosophy or have questions in general to how we do things, do not hesitate to call :) or just send an email... or just come visit!! :) <3 A Puppy is a commitment, and we want families to feel as good about getting one of our puppies as we do!

We produce the three recognized colors Black, Yellow and Chocolate (these are the only acceptable colors). All of our dogs and puppies are members of our family and have a dedication to each puppy that leaves our mountain farm, we encourage all families to attend our annual puppy reunion!! It is a wonderful time of Fun, Fur, Food and Fellowship with fellow FFP Families!!

*In 2020 We had lot of time to reflect on how we wanted to move forward with our program, we also had many hurdles... a singleton litter, our chocolate boy Thor becoming sterile (he didn't know this though... lol :) So we had a couple missed breedings...   We have had, great success in prior years... again... success can be defined in many ways... but we felt fortunate to have such wonderful puppies from our foundation dogs, but where could we go? We started out nearly 10 years ago with 2 stud dogs and 4 girls (2 of which, were sisters<3) ... with that, we were limited as well, we couldn't necessarily keep offspring and breed them as that is inbreeding... Given this snafu we found ourselves in, we used a couple outside studs... which is a great benefit but, it is very inconvenient and transporting our girls places and leaving them... and quite frankly, that process just doesn't sit well with us... although many breeders go this route... there are many ways to accomplish breedings, of course that is just one scenario.   For us though, we like having the parents here... here for the families to see and meet and get their hands on :)  and just see what your puppy will grow up to be...  After the retirement of Thor in 2020 we dug in and began to really research pedigrees and lines of many great Labradors, we found a kennel that is very influential in the Labrador world, that has great historical lines, healthy and well balanced dogs and is active in showing off these great specimens worldwide! I included 2 young studs, and 4 girls from Loretta Labradors with remarkable bloodlines known for not only beauty but overall health and great temperaments.  I will list several of the notorious Labrador  (lineage)  that will be included in our future pedigrees.  I encourage you to research and see for yourself the magnificent lineage that we have included to our program.
